The newly formed St.Colman's B.N.S. Green School's Committee have had a busy first year. Elections for 3rd to 6th classes were held with two students from each class elected. Candidates had to pitch their ideas to the whole of the class in an effort to win over votes. Two pupils each from 1st and 2nd class were chosen by the teacher.
Our theme for the first year was Litter and Waste. As part up this theme the committee organised a 'clean up day' which involved cleaning out some litter black-spots in the school. Parents community, members, students and staff were all involved.
The committee held various fundraisers throughout the year such as a Christmas raffle, a Clothes & Phone Collection and a Cake Sale. The committee would like to thank all who supported these fundraisers.
Using recycled materials the students also completed many art projects. A poster competition with an anti- litter theme was held with Easter eggs as prizes for the winners from each class.
One of the committees biggest projects has been its Art project. A local artist, Amanda Wright, has been coming to the school helping us design a Wall Mural using recyclable materials. This will be transportable to the new school.
The committee would like to thank everyone who helped and was involved in the last school year to make St Colmans a Greener School .
