We had a Clothes and Mobile Phone Collection in aid of School Funds on February 20th , 21st & 22nd. Many thanks to all those who brought in clothes and phones. It was a terrific success. 800kg of clothes were collected and 13 phones. We made €445.50 on this venture.
The 5th and 6th Class Boys are interviewing people of interest in our local community throughout the school year. This month we have interviewed Tommy Mullane from Kanturk Tidy Towns Committee.
Our Green-School's Committee held a Christmas Raffle to fund their Green- Schools' activities. Over 30 Prizes were donated by the Staff and Pupils of our school. Those that didn't win raffle prizes received a Chocolate Santa Lollipop. €409.30 was made on the raffle. Thanks to all those who contributed. Photos of Where Improvements are needed!Following the Green School's Committee Meeting held on November 24th it was decided to have a "Clean- Up Hour" in the school on Saturday December 3rd at 10.00 am. We filled 2 trailers and took them to the Recycling Centre. Many thanks to the parents and children who helped out on the day.
The Boys in all classes have been busy writing their speeches and campaigning for the Green-Schools Committee. There has been huge interest throughout the school. The following boys have been successful in the Green Schools Committee Election. St Colman's B.N.S. registered with Green-Schools on the 28th of September 2011. This means that we hope to partake in the Green-Schools Programme and we intend
to apply for the Green-Flag award in the future. |
