Last week was also Tech Week. The boys in 5th & 6th sampled Scratch Coding with some succeeding in programming fish to move up and down and over and back the screen. Can't wait to see what's on the plan for next week.
Well done to our Green Schools committee who were awarded our 3rd Green School's Flag this week. This year we have been working on the Theme of WATER. It is a great achievement.
Some of the boys will be heading off to the Awards Ceremony in the Radisson Blu, Little Island, Cork on May 11th. Well deserved!
On Thursday April 27th we welcomed Martina Ryan, Educational Officer with Cork Mental Health who spoke to the 5th and 6th class children on the importance of positive mental health and wellbeing. She also talked to the boys about the transition from Primary to Post Primary School. It was an excellent talk & hopefully the boys learnt a lot.
Congratulations to Kasparas in 6th whose WEEK 11 100 Word Challenge was showcased & chosen to be read out in SPACE. He wrote a speech about Respecting the Environment.
Peaky the Ohbot was sent up to near-space and programmed to deliver messages written by children worldwide.
What an achievement!
Super work Kasparas - We are very proud of you!
Today we had Alan Smith & Steven Beattie from @CorkCityFC presenting prizes to Calum & Darragh. What sound lads! We had a question and answer session and then a kick around afterwards.
Congratulations & Well done to Calum C in 6th and Darragh in 4th who were winners in Clonakilty/Cork City F.C. Take Pride in Your Jersey Competition. Both children won family tickets to the Cork City v Derry City match this Friday April 7th. They have also won a hamper from Clonakilty. Added to the above prizes the children in these classes are afforded the opportunity to buy a ticket for Friday night’s game for €1.
