Today the Green Schools' Committees of both the Boys' and Girls' Schools went on a trip to Iniscarra Dam. We had a terrific day in this Nature Reserve. We saw squirrels, heron and cormorants. We walked up to the gates of the dam where we saw salmon jumping upstream. We were lucky with the timing of our trip as Gerard and Dan from the ESB Fisheries Conservation were catching Salmon and taking them to a nearby hatchery to spawn. We were shown a video explaining about how Electricity is generated there. We were then taken to see the generators, turbines and control rooms. What a fantastic trip we had today!
