What an honour it was today to have Aogán Ó Fearghail, President of the GAA visit our school. The President was given a guard of honour into the school by the Boys & Girls U14 Feile Teams while the other boys, invited guests, parents, grandparents & staff waited eagerly inside for his arrival. He was welcomed by Mrs Finnegan who told us all that Mr O Fearghaíl hailed from County Cavan and spent 25 years coaching U12s in his local club. Mrs Boyce's Class started off the proceedings by telling us about GAA in our school. This was followed by 4 boys from Mrs O' Connor's Class informing us what GAA meant to them. After this we had a Question & Answer Session where 9 boys from the school asked the President questions varying from his views on dual players to whether there should be a black card in hurling. Mrs Finnegan then presented Mr Ó Fearghaíl with an Aidan Walsh hurley signed by all the staff & pupils in our school. We think we might make the Guinness Book of Records for the most signatures ever on a hurley! Aidan Walsh is both a past pupil of our school & a local sporting hero. Finally the boys performed for the President. Mrs Stack's Class sang Grace, the whole school played The Foggy Dew and we ended the visit by standing proudly and singing Ámhrán na bhFiann. ![]() It truly was a momentous occasion. Well done to all that took part in making this a wonderful event. Many thanks to Janusz Trzesicki for the fabulous photographs.
Yesterday we had one of our bi-annual clothes collections. There were 53 bags of Clothes brought in. Our Green School's Committee were delighted. A big thank you to all those who contributed. This brings in much needed funding for our school.
Míle Buíochas! Well done to the following boys who will be representing our school at a Swimming Gala in Malllow on May 18th.
