Many thanks to Spar Kanturk & Tommy Mullane for supplying us with Soccer Bibs, Cones & Soccer Balls. They will be put to good use. We had a great time at the Spar FAI Schools Soccer Tournament and we are already in training for next year.
We were fortunate enough to have a visit from Mrs Skinner to our school yesterday. Mrs Skinner is a retired Head Teacher from the UK & is also the founder of the 100 Word Challenge. The 100 Word Challenge is a Global Creative Writing Challenge that Mrs Boyce's Class have been taking part in for the last 3 years. Each week Mrs Skinner gives a Writing Prompt. The Rules are simple. You can write about anything in 100 words. The Boys also get a chance to read other stories written by children worldwide & to write and receive comments on the work. Read all about what the boys love about the 100 Word Challenges HERE. Mrs Skinner spent from 10am until 4pm in our school. She worked on a picture prompt with the children from 2nd to 6th. We were also delighted to facilitate a visit from Mrs Meehan's Class in the convent. In the afternoon she did a workshop for teachers on Creative Writing & there were teachers from 4 local schools in attendance. All in all - it was a great learning day for pupils and teachers alike!
