Last week we discussed and debated the motion " Children should not have to wear uniforms. " Needless to say the 6th Class boys had alot to say on the matter. Some boys wrote down their views for us.
In my opinion, children shouldn't have to wear uniform. Children don’t feel like they have any control over their lives. They wear uniform, go to school, learn and return home, do homework, watch tv/go outside/read a book/play video games then go to bed and the cycle begins anew. They can at least break the repetitive nature of school by expressing themselves with their own clothes. Now everyone is different and more interesting and less boring. We are all different from close up and from afar.
Some people also find school uniforms uncomfortable or too hot or too cold. Some people say that there will be competition between pupils and bullying will occur Disallowing us to wear our own clothes is a sign of distrust before we even set foot on the school grounds. Bullying doesn't occur just for one reason. Bullies will find a way to bully one way or another.
