Yesterday 6th Class had a visit from Ms Downey , Mr Keating and some pupils all from Scoil Mhuire. They were inviting 6th Class & their parents to an open day in their school on Saturday 11th of October.
Visit from Scoil Mhuire
The 5th & 6th Class boys had a great day out at their Hurling Blitz in Rathcoole on Wednesday. We played Newmarket 1 , Ballyhass, Newmarket 2 & Lyre and won all our matches. Many thanks to the Dads - Tony, Brendan & Padraig who helped us on the day.
Our New School is imminent
Last week it was announced over the airwaves that planning was going in again for our New Amalgamated School. When we investigated this claim we were told that all previous "stumbling blocks" / problems have been resolved and that it is "all systems go".
We are very hopeful now that after years of waiting the building of our New School is imminent. This is great news!
Our first Green School's Meeting
Last week Mrs Linehan & the Green Schools Committee held their first meeting of the new school year.
Cyruz wrote a short report on it.
Our green schools committee relaunched their programme for our second green flag on energy yesterday. We welcomed the the new members to help us in our efforts – Mark Watson and Colin Walsh. New initiatives will be launched within the next few weeks. Watch the space!
Keep up the great work! We are very proud of our Healthy, Environmentally Friendly School.
Congratulations to Josh
Congratulations to Josh O' C in 6th Class whose photo of him and his hurley won him a signed copy of the book "Fintan's Hurley" by Alan Nolan and a sketch in the #MeandMyHurl Twitter Competition.
P.E with the REAL David Beckham
This week we had David Beckham back in our school again much to the delight of all the boys. David will be doing P.E. with us for 12 weeks.
Music with Jackie
This week 2nd to 6th Classes had music with Jackie Bolster. The cost of this is subsidised by our Parent's Association; therefore only costing each pupil €10 per term. Each boy learns the tin whistle and in 5th Class the boys get a chance to learn the concertina on school instruments.
We'd like to extend a very special welcome to our new boys throughout the school especially our First Class Boys. We hope they will be very happy with us in St Colman's.
