As you have probably heard, 1c & 2c coins are being scrapped and will shortly be taken out of circulation. Most people end up with coppers in their pockets and purses which become heavy and virtually useless to them.
Here in St Colman’s we plan to zone in on these coppers. We would love you to consider donating your coppers to our school. It would surprise you how all these coppers will add up. In St Colman’s we would love to buy more Maths Equipment and Digital Devices. This fund would be specifically used for this purpose. Each month, we plan to have an Interclass “Penny War.” Each Class will have a large see-through container where they can store their coppers. Classes compete to see who can fill their container with the most coppers. The winning Class each month will be rewarded with an extra PE Class, Homework Passes & the PENNY WAR Trophy. So folks, start emptying pockets, cleaning your presses, jars etc. and start filling our containers. We will accept all coppers – 1c, 2c & 5c. Thanking you for your continued support. Today we had a Clothes Collection for school funds. We had over 60 bags. Thank you & Well done to everybody who contributed!  Well done to Mrs Boyce, Mrs Stack and Mrs Finnegan for submitting the reviews of our Mental Maths Books. They won a €150 voucher from Prim-Ed for their excellent reviews. With this money we have purchased ‘Brain Snack’ a problem solving activity box for Maths.  Our Green School's Committee would like to remind you of our clothes collection this Tuesday October 13th. The clothes collection company will take used men’s/women’s and children’s clean unwanted clothing, shoes, belts, handbags, ties, linens, household textiles, stuffed toys, also take old books (not school books or magazines).   We had our first Green School's Meeting of the school year last Thursday and we were delighted with the energy and enthusiasm of the new group. Well done to our new Green School's Committee.For the next 2 years we will be working on the Water Theme. Read more about our exploits on our Green School's Page.  We have been asked to inform all our parents that there will be a Science & Maths Family Fair taking place on Sunday October 11th at Mallow’s GAA Complex. Fun Guaranteed!  Here are the Dates for the "Do This in Memory" Masses on Sundays @10am for 2nd Class & their parents: Oct 4th Oct 25th Nov 22nd Dec 13th Jan 24th Feb 21st Mar 20th Apr 10th   Our Hurlers from 4th, 5th & 6th had a great day out in Rathcoole on Wednesday. We played Newmarket, Banteer, St Lachteens, Ballyhass & Derrinagree. Many thanks to Mr O' Keeffe for coaching us on the day.Well done to all!  |
