6th Class connect with 2 classes in Bidstown Avenue, Wirral, UK. through blogging and their 100 Word Challenges and yesterday they had a special visitor, Mrs Tucker from that school. They were delighted to meet Mrs Tucker and to ask her all sorts of questions about her school. Blogging has connected them with classes throughout the world. Well done to all!
Congratulations to our Green Schools Committee on receiving their Green Flag for Energy yesterday. Erin & Cyruz, from 6th, were chosen to represent the Boys and along with Mrs Stack & Cait , they headed to the Silversprings Hotel, Cork to the Awards Ceremony. They were wined, dined & entertained there. Great fun was had by all!
Planning has already started for the next school year.The class groupings and teachers for September 2015 are as follows :
1st & 2nd Class – Mrs O’Sullivan 2nd & 3rd – Mrs Stack/Mrs Linehan 4th & 5th – Mrs O’Connor 5th & 6th – Mrs Boyce Paddy in 2nd was chosen to do a Book Review of The Lost Fairy for an educational website Seomra Ranga. The aim of this website is to share practical resources for the Primary School Classroom on the web. This is a great honour for our school. Paddy has been working very hard on his review. Yesterday Mr Gerard McAuliffe from the Kanturk Branch of the Irish Red Cross came to visit our school. He spoke to all Classes about the Red Cross and the services it offers. Most of us didn't realise that you can become a member of the Red Cross at 5. He invited all of us to an Information Day in O' Brien Street Park next Saturday. He also brought us a certificate thanking us for our donation of €300 to the Nepal Fund.
Congratulations to our 2nd Class Boys who received their 1st Holy Communion yesterday. The ceremony was beautiful and each person did their job to perfection. Well done to all!
Yesterday the 6th Class donated €600 to COPE Foundation, Kanturk. This money was collected at Carol Singing which took place before Christmas. Well done Boys.
Well done to Brandon, Sam & Brian for representing St Colman's in the Hurling Skills Competition yesterday.
On Tuesday we handed over a cheque to Muscular Dystrophy Ireland having had a Christmas Jumper Day before Christmas. The 4 schools in the town had the fundraiser and we joined together to hand over the cheque. We gave MDI Ireland €1550. Well done KANTURK! We remember in a special way Keith & Ciarán.
