On Day 3 of Active Schools Week 1st, 2nd, 5th & 6th went on their School Tours. Ist & 2nd went to the Let's Go Camp in Mallow. 5th & 6th went to Kartworld. A great time was had by all. Check out the Photo Gallery for all the photos taken.
On Day 2 of Active Schools week all classes has a Fitness Class with Martin from Fitness Schools Ireland. He was excellent and put the boys through their paces with rollers, hurdlers and wobble boards. Check out all the photos in the Photo Gallery.
We had a wonderful day for Sports Day. Thank you to all who supported us. The Sprints 200m Sprints The Golden Mile The Parachute The Penalty Shoot Out The Ball in the Wheel The Sack Race The Wellie Throw The Tug of War The Prize Winners The Féile Champions We were delighted to be part of the Féile Parade wishing the U14 Hurlers the very best of Luck for the weekend. We were delighted to have Mr Hales of Fridaybridge PS, UK with us on Thursday. 5th & 6th Class have connected with his class throughout the year with the 100 Word Challenge. He gave each boy in 5th & 6th a postcard from his class in Fridaybridge. We spoke about our favourite 100 word challenge prompts. We gave Mr Hales a book of our stories for his class & we played music for him. He then visited each room where the boys did us proud. They played tunes, sang songs & recited poetry. In the afternoon we were honoured that Mr Hales helped us raise our 3rd Green Flag. Well done also to our Green School's Committee. All in all we had a great of sharing & connecting. Weather permitting the Sports Day will be on Monday 19th.
We are grateful to the Kanturk Rugby Club for allowing us to use their facilities for the day. As happens every year our Parents’ Association will host a Coffee-morning/afternoon! You are all most welcome to come and enjoy a chat and a cuppa. There will also be a raffle on the day with some great prizes on offer! The tickets will be on sale in the school from tomorrow on and on the day. The cost is €1 per strip or 3 strips for €2. We hope that some people will do some baking for the morning! This year we have a few new additions for Sports Day - Relay Races, Tug of War & Parachute Games. From June 19th – June 23rd our school will be taking part in the Active Schools Week.
The following is a brief outline of activities to be explored. Monday 19th – Sports Day Tuesday 20th – Exercise and Fitness Class with Martin Sheehan, Specialist in Sports Pedagogy. Wednesday. 21st – School tours for 1st/2nd , 5th & 6 th . Thursday 22nd – 5 th & 6th classes climb Clara Mountain. Friday 23rd – Visit from Trevor McCarthy, Heritage Expert. Children will get an insight into Irish History during the Iron age/ Celtic and Viking eras through interactive display and play. We also hope to fit in our Annual Junior & Senior Soccer World Cup, Penalty Shoot out and our School Marathon Running Challenge. It will be a busy busy week! On Thursday last we had the privilege of welcoming our 26 boys who will be joining us in September. We hope they will be very happy in our school.
