Today in school we were investigating which objects float or sink in water. We found that heavy items such as a stone or a grape sank to the bottom, while light items such as a matchstick, ruler, lollipops stick floated. Metal things like the paper clip sank while plastic things floated. We found that glass objects or wool floated. We discovered that cloth would float at first. However when in the water a while it would become saturated and heavy and eventually it would sink. We also talked about the shape of items. We rolled some playdough in to a ball, it sank. We then changed it into a boat shape and it floated.
