As part of WATER day organised by the Green Schools Committee each classroom did a series of Water Experiments. It was a great day of FUN & LEARNING.
Our Mascot was named by Sean in 6th Class - Fluey Louis. Our Green Schools Committee spent time sprucing him up with WATER facts. To appreciate that everyone doesn't have instant access to WATER each child walked 1km with between 1 & 6 litres in their bags @GreenSchoolsIre We celebrated Proclamation Day yesterday. 1st & 2nd sang the song Grace. 2nd & 3rd did the poem The Mother. 5th Class recited the poem I See His Blood Upon the Rose. 5th & 6th told the story of the Easter Rising. We also played the Foggy Dew, the Weaver & Amhrán na bhFiann. Each class read out some of our school Proclamation that we wrote last year. We finished off the ceremony by raising the flag and singing Amhrán na bhFiann. It was a very meaningful and memorable occasion. Well done to all. On Wednesday 5th & 6th had a visit from author Kieran Crowley from Mallow. Kieran has written 3 children's books - Colm & the Lazarus, Colm & the Ghost's Revenge and The Mighty Dynamo. He talked about wanting to be an astronaut and a soccer player. He read an extract from The Mighty Dynamo and he went through the whole process of writing a book. We were very impressed with Kieran's visit. Well done to our 2nd Class who received their Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time on Wednesday. #Confession
We spent a fantastic morning watching Colaiste Treasa's Panto Cinderella. It was a terrific performance and we LOVED it. Many thanks to Coláiste Treasa for inviting us. It's great to see the Kanturk Arts Festival artwork all over the town. We hope the boys from 2nd, 3rd & 4th who entered have found their work. We had 2 boys whose work was highly commended. Well done to Naglis in 3rd & William in 4th. We also had many boys in the school whose work was commended including Michael, Charlie & Paddy in 4th.
Check it out around the town and let us know! 1st, 2nd & 3rd were delighted to be practising their HURLING skills with Lorcan McLoughlin. It was a great honour for us to have Lorcán, a senior Cork Hurler training our boys.
Thank you Lorcan. We heard GREAT news on Friday. We had 3 winners in the Children's Flash Fiction Competition. Sean M came 1st with his story Turning Tables. Calum C came 2nd with his story Finding my Family and Kallum Y came 3rd with his story The Titanic. Well done Boys. A great honour for our School. Super Work.
