Farewell to 6th Class from all in St Colman's BNS. We wish you all the best next year in Coláiste Treasa & Scoil Mhuire.
Yesterday with the help of our special visitor from California- Mrs Ananmalay - & despite the inclement weather , 6th Class raised the Health Promotion Flag. The Senior World Cup Final took place yesterday in the Scoil Mhuire pitch between Brazil & Iran. It was a very close game and had to go into extra time. And the winners were ...Brazil. Well done to Brian O' S, Eoghan, Brian H, Josh M & Darius. The Shield Final also took place between Holland & Costa Rica. And the winners were...Costa Rica. Well done to Joey, Sam, Josh O' C, Ciaran D & Ciaran C.
We would love you to encourage your children to take part in the Reading Challenges over the Summer Holidays to promote Reading.

Participating in this challenge will help children develop a life-long love of reading as well as improving their reading skills. The challenge will kick off at the beginning of July and run through the school holidays. So why not call into your library and check out what's on offer. St Colman’s Reading Challenge Bring back Your Summer Reading Log Card to the School in September and you will also be entered into a raffle for a Book Voucher from our local Bookshop. Tomorrow Mrs Ananmalay from California is coming to visit our 6th Class. Mrs Ananmalay is from San Jose in California and teaches Grade 5 in the Los Alamitos Elementary School. The 6th Class boys have made connections with her class through the 100 Word Creative Writing Challenge. Throughout the year the children have been reading and commenting on each others stories. This brings a whole new dimension to learning in our school. Well done boys and enjoy the visit.
Last week we received the good news that we have been awarded the Health Promoting School Flag. This was a 2 year process. Last year we concentrated on Healthy Lunches & Healthy Eating in general. This year we worked on our fitness and becoming more active. Well done to all those involved!
