Last week was also Tech Week. The boys in 5th & 6th sampled Scratch Coding with some succeeding in programming fish to move up and down and over and back the screen. Can't wait to see what's on the plan for next week.
Well done to our Green Schools committee who were awarded our 3rd Green School's Flag this week. This year we have been working on the Theme of WATER. It is a great achievement.
Some of the boys will be heading off to the Awards Ceremony in the Radisson Blu, Little Island, Cork on May 11th. Well deserved! Thursday was Poetry Day Ireland and 5th & 6th were invited down to Kanturk Library to read poetry. Many of the boys read some of their own work in English and in Irish. It was a most enjoyable experience. Well done to all.
On Thursday April 27th we welcomed Martina Ryan, Educational Officer with Cork Mental Health who spoke to the 5th and 6th class children on the importance of positive mental health and wellbeing. 5th & 6th had a great day out at the Duhallow Rural Schools Blitz yesterday. It was the first year in a long time that we entered two teams. Although we didn't get through to the final, the boys did the school proud. Well done boys.
Congratulations to Kasparas in 6th whose WEEK 11 100 Word Challenge was showcased & chosen to be read out in SPACE. He wrote a speech about Respecting the Environment. Today we had Alan Smith & Steven Beattie from @CorkCityFC presenting prizes to Calum & Darragh. What sound lads! We had a question and answer session and then a kick around afterwards.
