We want to wish Dylan Kenehan 4th class the best of luck as he competes in the final of TEENSTARS this Saturday in Co. Kildare, performing the song Hallelujah. Dylan sang for the whole school today and we were very impressed with his talent. Well done Dylan!
Well done to all our 3rd/4th class boys who took part in the Monster Schools Quiz in Charleville Park Hotel last Friday night. The boys came joint 2nd and after the tie breaker round they were placed 3rd on the night. The team was Brian Healy, Jack Quirke, Paul O’Sullivan & Liam Breen. Our second team on the night was Séan Moylan, Callum Carroll and Shane Carver. Well done again lads.
Erin & the Green School's Committee had great news for us today! We were awarded our second Green Flag for the theme of Energy last Friday. Well done to all involved in this achievement. We will receive the flag at a celebration in Cork on Wednesday May 27th.
Yesterday we had the trials for Cork City Sports. The following boys qualified :
U13 Patrick & Erin, U12 Colin W & Brandon, U11 Callum C & Kayden, U10 Aiveras & Ewan, U9 Dara Q & Dan O' R, U8 Alan & Eoin, U7 Jack & Merciej, Over 11 Relay : Josh O' C, Colin W, Darren & Patrick, Under 11 Relay : Callum C, Kayden, Aivarus & Ewan. Well done to all! Cork City Sports will be held in Cork CIT on June 10th. A big thank you to our 6th Class Bag Packers who were bag packing in Super Valu on Friday! It was a great success. Enjoy the well earned treats!
Our Spring Clean Up Day with the Community Council was postponed due to rain on Friday. It will be rescheduled for another Friday. So 4th Class keep those gloves, aprons, brushes & shovels somewhere safe!
On Friday 6th Class spent the day Bag Packing in Super Valu from 10am until 7pm. There was a rota organised of 3 boys for each hour.Many people commented on their friendly smiles & good manners on the day.Thank you Boys & Well done! Thank you also to our Parents' Association for organising it, Super Valu for having us & all those who supervised the boys throughout the day. It was a terrific success.
Some of 2nd & 3rd Class took part in a Hurling Blitz in Banteer on Friday. They played 3 matches and had great fun under the direction of their coaches Mrs Linehan & Mrs Daly. Thanks also to the two 6th Class Referees David & Josh O' C who helped out at the Blitz. Well done Everybody!
Today we started DRUMMING with Eamonn Cagney. Each class will be having a series of 6 Drumming workshops between now and the Summer Holidays.What fun we had!
5th & 6th Classes are starting their Couch to 5K Running Programme tomorrow. Our plan is to run 3 times a week in the town park - Monday, Wednesday & Friday - weather permitting. Parents are more than welcome to join us. Tomorrow we will start by jogging for 1 minute - walking for 1.5 minutes and we will repeat this 8 times. Our long term aim is run a Golden Mile at our Sports Day.
