New Wave Mental Maths : Monday Week 33 & Problem
Number 14:
⅖ of 10 = ( Divide by the bottom number - multiply by the top)
Number 17:
Area of an irregular shape. This shape needs to be divided into 3 rectangles/squares. Then find the area of each one( Length x Width) and then add your 3 answers.

Better English Unit 28 Pronouns pg 112
The pronouns we are used to using take the place of a person’s name in a sentence eg. I, You, He, She, It, They, We
These types of pronouns are known as Personal Pronouns.
Spellings to go with the unit. Words ending with - tion
These are on pages 124 & 125 of Better English.
Spend at least 10 minutes a day on Vocabulary Spelling City working on Week 28 and on Friday do the Spelling Test ME.

Well how appropriate is that!
We sat outside on Saturday afternoon/evening and listened to the thunder and watched the lightning. I never remember it being so spectacular before!

I can sense a lot of horror stories this week!
Do it today...if possible. I look forward to reading your stories as always. Try and use as many WOW Words as possible.

Essential
We are hearing a lot at the moment about essential workers. Only the essential workers are supposed to be out working at the moment. The rest of us are supposed to be at home.
Doctors and nurses are essential workers.
Write down the definition and put it in a sentence as we always do. Try and include them in your stories.

When I was young - not much older than you guys, I spent 3 weeks of every Summer in the Gaeltacht - an Irish speaking region. I used to go to Kerry - beyond Dingle. We spoke in Irish, sang Irish songs, played Irish games and learnt Irish Dances. It was great fun.

This week there is a Maistín - a bully - ar scoil. The Múinteoir heard a scread - a scream sa chlós. Agus chonaic sí Donal. Bhí a shrón ag cur fola. His nose was bleeding. He told the múinteoir that it was a timpiste - an accident but Eimear said - níl sé sin fior. That is not true. Thosaigh Donal ag caoineadh agus bhí sé ag crith le heagla - shaking with fear. Neasa told the múinteoir that a buachaill mór ó Rang a sé hit Donal - Bhuail sé Donal. Ghoid sé a lón freisin. - He stole his lunch as well. Leag sé Dónal den rothar - He knocked Donal off the bike. - Stróic sé a gheansaí - He tore his jumper. Ghoid sé a bhróga lá eile agus chaith sé sna sceacha iad - He threw them into the bushes.
Read pg 92 and answer the questions B 1-7 Irish Copies.

Creative Writing Competition
Cork County Library and Arts Service are running a creative writing
competition “The Superhero from Cork”. It can be a maximum of 500
words. If you’d like to enter, (I hope you do!), please submit your
story on the 100 Word Challenge site. I will correct/edit it and enter
it for you. All the information is on our class page of the website.
This is completely optional but as we have excellent
writers, it would be a pity to miss out.

The first 2 you might need to get help from your parents. They are similar. Milestones are important occasions in your life- usually firsts- - perhaps when you walked - said your first word - slept through the night - started school - started St Colman’s - your First Confession - Holy Communion- Confirmation -5th Class in Mrs Boyce’s Class is surely a milestone! I think you get the picture.
My Hopes for the Future should be an interesting one. Starting with secondary school - subjects you’d like to do - college - job - the future of our country - our world - environment etc.
